The Cygnus Wall

The Cygnus Wall, located within the larger North America Nebula (NGC 7000), is a dense ridge of gas and dust situated in the constellation Cygnus, approximately 2,200 light-years from Earth. It corresponds visually to the region that represents "Mexico and Central America" in the nebula's distinct shape. It is known for its intense star-forming activity, where ultraviolet radiation from unseen, newly formed massive stars sculpts and illuminates the surrounding interstellar ionized gas.
